The poll, by YouGov, carried out on 9 and 10 May 2013, shows that 53% of people in Britain are in favour of Equal Marriage, with 36% against. Again, following the pattern of previous polls, when you look at the ages of people questioned, the numbers of those in favour jumps considerably in the younger age brackets. For instance, in the 60+ category, just 28% are in favour, with 61% against. However, for those aged 25-39, 70% are in favour with just 18% against.
This is just the latest evidence showing that, by opposing equal marriage, those people are alienating a big proportion of younger voters. These voters are the future. The equal marriage bill is not only just, fair and the right thing to do, but it is also the tactical thing to do for future political survival.
