Simon Kirby, Conservative Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown and a big LGBTory supporter, gave his support for the 2013 Pride celebrations in Brighton, taking place this weekend.
Simon said: “Pride is always a wonderful celebration of our City’s diversity and of the important contribution the LGBT community makes to Brighton and Hove. I have always been a firm supporter of the event and am looking forward to taking part in the parade again this year. I hope everybody has a great Pride.”
The event was a great success with over 60 participants taking part in the parade forming an impressive Conservative presence. Following the parade, a stand was set up in Preston Park to continue the celebrations and people took a big interest in what Conservatives had to say on issues affecting lesbian. gay, bisexual and trans people.
The specially-designed teeshirts with the Conservatives' tree logo together with the slogan "Keep calm and Marry on", recalling the recent legalisation of same-sex marriage, was also popular with the crowds!
